I love St Patrick's day but wonder why the Feast Of St Gennaro or the Chinese New Year aren't as big. Why the Irish holiday? The general consensus around work is that if you make it a "drinking" day then it's popularity grows, for example Cinco De Mayo and Mardi Gras.
That makes some sense since my 2 favorite St. Patrick's Days both involve drinking. I took the Erin Express with the Philly crew one year and took the drunk bus all over Philly drinking green beer and wearing ridiculous green attire. Another year I went to NY to see my cousins march in the parade and wound up drinking too many mojitos the night before and missed the parade. Fortunately, I recovered in time to meet up with Tom, Shamus and the bunch at an NYPD Irish bar on the upper East side and then moved to a FDNY bar and met up with the rest of my NY based cousins.
I read that they are doing the Green Beer races again...Zippy and I are pretty good running partners and I know he has some speed in him. I think we are going to go for the gold.... or the bronze. Speaking of bronze medals. I won a NASTAR Bronze medal in Crested Butte and I keep it on my ski hat. Well, Rob wore my ski hat and left it on the couch while we went out to dinner last night. Zippy seized the opportunity to:
A - Nibble on the medal until it came off the hat
B - Slobber all over the hat
C - Scratch the medal beyond repair
D - Bend the pin part in half
Sadly enough I can't be mad at either one - anything left out runs the risk of having the dog demolish it and I gave up on expecting Rob to put anything away. It's the nature of both beasts.

Wow that's very similar to Andy leaving things out for the baby to get into.
