Tests

We had a barrage of tests on Monday and I felt like a pin cushion. They did a Nuchal test which is 70% effective in predicting genetic issues and it came back just fine. That test was done by looking at a sonogram of the baby.
The other test, that is 100% effective, was not as simple. They stuck a 10 foot long and 2 foot thick needle into my belly and twisted it around until it hurt and then said they were done and would call me in a week with results. The results will be an actual picture of my baby's chromosomes! I can't get over just how cool that is.
While doing the test they had the baby on the sonogram and it was doing flips, summersaults, kicking and punching. I am totally amazed at how much the baby is moving.
They asked if we had any genetic issues in my family and I mentioned that my brother is a idiot, but apparently that is not genetic.
One thing I never though of was that Rob's grandmother announced, while she was on her death bed, that even though she had been brought up Catholic, she was adopted and was originally Jewish. I always thought it was a great story but didn't realize that simply being of Jewish descent makes you susceptible to genetic issues.
